Just a simple Cherokee trial lawyer, Barkman has been forcing his opinions on others in print since, for reasons that passeth understanding, he was an unsuccessful candidate for state representative in 2002. His philosophy: "If people had wanted me to be nice, they should've voted for me."

The Big Mo

Talent has conceded in Missouri, returning Harry Truman's desk to the Democrats. Tester leads in Montana. The Senate will apparently be decided by the recount in Virginia. Cry havoc, and let slip the lawyers of war!

And Joe Lieberman is now the most powerful man in America.

In some ways, Lieberman's re-election was the most satisfying result of the night for me. I think his party treated him rather shabbily, and it was nice to see at least some voters rejecting both parties. I think it's rather generous of him to caucus with the Democrats, after all that happened.

Generosity has nothing to do with it; the Democrats are in power and the Republicans aren't. Lieberman's been in politics long enough to know which way the wind is blowing.

True, though he did get more Republican votes in Connecticut than Democratic. I think he just genuinely considers himself a Democrat, albeit a fairly conservative one.
