Just a simple Cherokee trial lawyer, Barkman has been forcing his opinions on others in print since, for reasons that passeth understanding, he was an unsuccessful candidate for state representative in 2002. His philosophy: "If people had wanted me to be nice, they should've voted for me."

Yeah, I never imagined we'd have a governor who made George Dubya Bush look like an intellectual giant, but damn if Perry ain't it.

It'll all depend on how well the Democrats do this year. If they take the state House or come close and especially if they win one or two statewide offices, then you could see some real interest open up.

I never know who any of these Democratic candidates for governor are. They seem to come out of nowhere. I guess that's because there are so few Democrats in any visible statewide offices.

That's exactly why. They say Lance Armstrong is interested...

Puh-leez! I haven't even paid off the last campaign yet there, congressman.
