Just a simple Cherokee trial lawyer, Barkman has been forcing his opinions on others in print since, for reasons that passeth understanding, he was an unsuccessful candidate for state representative in 2002. His philosophy: "If people had wanted me to be nice, they should've voted for me."

Stupid White Man of the Week: Lou Dobbs

Yes, we have a tie this week. Normally, I like Lou Dobbs, since he is just about the only person in the MSM who regularly discusses the disastrous economic effects of outsourcing, but unfortunately Lou has gone batshit crazy on the immigration issue. Mr. Dobbs, when engaging in bizarre, paranoid ramblings about the dangers of brown people infiltrating land stolen from Native Americans by white people, it's very important to check your sources.

You are of course correct on the Whites stealing Native American Land...however, Lou Dobbs is correct on the illegal immigration issue, Mexico needs to promote jobs in Mexico to keep their folks at home!! They're even more corrupt than D.C....:)

Dear Contemporary (it seems a little rude to call you "Baskets"): First, thank you for visiting my blog. I am always glad to have other Cherokee read (and especially post) here. Second, I looked at some of your work and I was stunned. It is absolutely beautiful and I will definately be contacting you again before momma's and grandmaw's birthdays. Third, as you can see from the post, I have a love-hate relationship with Lou. Illegal immigration is mostly an issue of supply and demand; they come here because American companies will hire them. And American companies hire them b/c they can exploit them. You are right that the answer lies in Mexico, but unfortunately that also leads to US companies relocating there. I have no problem with Dobbs (or anyone else) complaining about illegal immigration (tho' you have to admit, it's pretty funny to hear ayonegv complaining about people "invading" "their" land), but Lou has frequently gone too far and into the zone of hysterical racism.
