Worse Than You Think?
According to Cong. Jim Cooper (D-Tennessee), the REAL 2005 budget deficit was $760 billion, not $318.5 billion as officially reported and the REAL national debt is not $8.3 trillion (which is bad enough) but a staggering $49 trillion!!! Whether these higher figures are accurate or not, folks, remember that EVERY PENNY of this debt was appropriated by a Republican Congress and signed into law by a Republican president.

No, no, no... it's still the DEMOCRATS' fault somehow. The GOP is the party of fiscal responsibility. An elected Republican told me so.
"the national debt is a ticking time bomb that is a bigger threat to our national security forty years ago as terrorsim is today"
If for no other reason than the large portion of the debt held by other countries, particularly China. What would happen if, say, China decided to invade Taiwan and wanted us out of the way? Why risk a shooting war when they can simply cripple our economy or threaten to do so if we intervene?
