Just a simple Cherokee trial lawyer, Barkman has been forcing his opinions on others in print since, for reasons that passeth understanding, he was an unsuccessful candidate for state representative in 2002. His philosophy: "If people had wanted me to be nice, they should've voted for me."

What If Bill Clinton...

...had agreed to accept a Purple Heart from a veteran who felt he deserved it for all the "verbal attacks" he had suffered, because "emotional wounds and scars are as hard to carry as physical wounds"?

It's not the same. Bush served in the Texas National Guard. Clinton never served at all. And lest anyone think of sneering at his National Guard Service, remember that Dan Quayle was also in the Guard during the Viet Nam war, and not a single kilometer of Hoosier soil fell into the hands of the VC during his watch.

That should be not a single *square* kilometer, of course

Truly, Dan Quayle is history's greatest unsung hero. In the words of the philosophy, "A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man."

In my humble opinion, a person can only claim service if said service is satisfactorily completed. You can't say you graduated from high school if you quit after your junior year. That's where W stands, as far as I'm concerned.

Oh, and to answer your question, pilloried wouldn't begin to cover what the right-wing noise machine would do to Bill Clinton if he accepted any medal, but especially a Purple Heart.
