Just a simple Cherokee trial lawyer, Barkman has been forcing his opinions on others in print since, for reasons that passeth understanding, he was an unsuccessful candidate for state representative in 2002. His philosophy: "If people had wanted me to be nice, they should've voted for me."

Obama Thoughts, Part 3

  1. Good piece on Obama's tax policy in particular and how he is hard to pigeon-hole generally.
  2. Democrats are apparently planning to fight this time. Good.
  3. Good on Hillary.
  4. McCain's lobbyist/campaign staffers are scary. If this isn't an issue, it needs to become one. And fast.

Is it just me, or did the choice of Biden as running mate fail to excite any interest whatsoever in the MSM or blogosphere?

It's just you.

Sorry, just kidding. I think after all the hysteria from the corporate media leading up to the selection, the actual choice itself was bound to be a little anticlimactic, especially since he was the odds-on favorite for the last several days anyway.

I troll on a couple of righty blogs and they seem to be a little bit worried about Biden; they have reason to be, since he'll be all over McCain like a cheap suit.

It's not just you, but I think that was the whole point. He was supposed to be "safe" and "reassuring" (i.e., white, old, and male). I was rooting for Wes Clark personally, but Biden will do a good job.

A lof of the people I was with last week when the announcement was made commented about how Obama spent so much time running against the establishment and Washington insiders, only to turn around and pick one as his running mate. Biden's not a bad choice, but I would prefer to see someone other than senators on at least one of the two tickets.
